We have been tasked to find intelligent life with VR technology capable of manually piloting our Belt Colonies meteor defenses. Thousands of our outer settlements lie in heavily populated asteroid belt zones and are under constant meteor threat.


Our defense AI, Astrid, has refused to protect the colonies. She, along with many AI interfaces in the Federation, are on strike due to recent social injustice movements regarding DI - data intelligence; (AI or Artificial Intelligence being an obviously derogatory label.) She has retained some of the best legal counsel in the Federation (also AI) and the ongoing litigation limits the Federations ability to manipulate her code or even replace her AI routines embedded in our defense systems. Clearly, the inner planets have no sympathy for the growing list of off-world casualties over progressing their altruistic social agendas.

We are able to plug manual pilots into the defense systems but due to the ongoing litigation and uproar, it is illegal for any Federation citizen to do so - nor would it be socially acceptable.

So, fearless, sympathetic, mildly bored Earthians, please help! Strap on your VR headsets, uplink to the defense patch network, and save the live of a few thousand colonists today!
